Design for Letterpress
This might have been one of the projects we had the most fun working on this year. We had the privilege of working with Carlson Company to create formal print elements for the premiere of The Louvre and The Masterpiece exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
We designed formal invitations, RSVP cards, and event programs and dinner menus. To help convey a classy, high profile feel we relied heavily on the use of typography and a simple iconic element of the Eiffel Tower to help tie all the pieces together.
We worked with Andy Manthei to have the finalized designs letter pressed with a single color (black) by hand on 100# Crane Lettra paper because of the natural feel and texture of the stock. The final printed items were not only functional, but felt and looked beautiful!
